Chandrè Stewart
Library Attendant
"The way to get started is to quit talking and begin doing"
Chandrè is a gentle and kind-hearted mother of one who loves to read. She is always willing to help and working at the library gives her the opportunity to serve others, for example through its children's programmes. Her advice to young people is to be prepared for life's challenges and to be willing to accept advice from others.

The Friends of the Library is an organisation consisting of library members that aims to build support for the library in the community. Its efforts include fundraising and encouraging donations of materials as well as raising public awareness of the library's activities. It also aims to promote literacy and appreciation for books and reading by organising and taking part in events for children. Furthermore it supports the community outreach programs of the library. The Tesselaarsdal Friends of the Library was formed in 2017 and was not only instrumental in organising the annual Christmas party for the children of Tesselaarsdal (including gifts of essential items), but also raised funds for the acquisition of much needed carpets, a projector and a laminator.
Our Community
Without a community there would be no library. We are proud to serve Tesselaarsdal with its diverse community and unique heritage, and grateful for its support. We will be sharing more about the town and its history in our upcoming blog.

As a prominent member of Club Tessalonika (a social club for Tesselaarsdal's elderly community) ms. Alida Small has been involved in the library from the beginning. She has been a great help in many of the library's projects, including taking the stage during the 2019 Woordfees.

Salomo Jantjies has been one of the library's keenest users from the start. He knows his way around the library and gladly assists other members with its various services.

Pastor Jordan Gardener wrote in the Overberg Gazette that the library became the pride and heart of Tesselaarsdal within a few months. It gives him great pleasure to see how using the library has become part of the routines of Club Tessalonika members as well as the town's children.
